At Summo, we prioritize student privacy and data minimization. This Privacy Policy outlines how we handle information in compliance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

1. Information We Do Not Collect

To ensure the safety of students in Australian schools, Summo is designed as a "No PII" (Personally Identifiable Information) platform for students.

  • We do NOT collect student names.
  • We do NOT collect student email addresses.
  • We do NOT require students to create accounts.
  • We do NOT track student location data.

Students access activities via a temporary, anonymous code provided by their teacher.

2. Information We Collect (Teachers Only)

We collect the following information only from Teachers who voluntarily create an account to generate content:

  • Name and Email Address (for account management).
  • Content created (quizzes, labs, activity data).

3. How We Use Information

  • Teacher Data: Used strictly to allow teachers to manage their saved activities.
  • Student Participation Data: Responses to quizzes and interactive labs are processed entirely locally on the student's device. This data is not transmitted to our servers, stored in our databases, or accessible by Summo. It exists only within the student's browser session to provide immediate feedback.

4. Data Storage and Security

  • Teacher account data is hosted securely using enterprise-grade cloud infrastructure.
  • We do not sell, trade, or rent any user data to third parties.
  • We do not display third-party advertisements to students.

5. Compliance with NSW Department of Education Standards

Summo is designed to align with the Student Use of Digital Devices and Online Services policy. By eliminating the need for student accounts and keeping participation data local to the device, we mitigate risks associated with data sovereignty and offshore data storage of minor's personal information.
